Our mission here at Troy Lee Designs is simple: concept, design, and produce the best Action Sports protection products and apparel available while never compromising our brand.

To further bolster and promote our brand in 2003 we were inspired to start our own race team and it’s all gone very well. In the past four years, the Troy Lee Designs Honda Red Bull race team has won the AMA Supermoto National Championship 3 times as well as three X-Games Gold Medals in Supercross and Supermoto.

Supercross

The 17-round AMA Supercross Series is the preeminent supercross championship in the world. Supercross takes place in the professional baseball and football stadiums of the United Sates of America, often drawing sell-out crowds approaching 70,000 fans. The Formula 1 of two-wheel off-road motorcycle racing, the best riders from around the world flock to America to race for multi-million dollar factory race teams in an effort to try and make their name in one of the most exciting, dynamic, well attended and widely watched and followed racing series on Planet Earth.

Team TLD Lucas Oil Honda raced the 8 race West Coast Supercross Lites Championship with the goal of capturing the title. A final round shootout took place in Las Vegas pitting the top 20 racers from the West Coast series vs top 20 from the East Coast series.

The 2010 Supercross season began January 9 at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., and concluded at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas May 8.

Motocross

The Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship features the world’s fastest outdoor motocross racers, racing aboard the best bikes each factory offers, on the roughest, toughest tracks in the world. Motocross racing is survival of the fittest as well as the fastest every weekend; it’s where legends like Ricky Carmichael, Jeremy McGrath, James Stewart, and Ryan Villopoto were built.

The newest member of the Alli family of action sports, Motocross is the original extreme action sport, and the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship is the pinnacle of pure motocross. The 12-rounds series, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, begins in California on Memorial Day weekend in May and ends in Pennsylvania on Labor Day weekend in September. It includes stops at the premier motocross racing facilities in America, with events in Colorado, Texas, Massachusetts, Washington, New York, Maryland and Michigan. The pro riders meet up on Saturday afternoon, with competition divided into two classes: one for 250cc bikes, and one for 450cc machines. Also, eight of the rounds feature the rapidly-growing Pro Women’s Motocross Championship, and the final round features Pro ATV Motocross.

Each track presents its own unique blend of jumps, hills, corners and whoops, but all the races run under the same format: two thirty-minute-plus-two lap motos (races) per class, with the scores from each race combined to determine the overall winner. The competition also tests fitness, as motocross at this speed is arguably the most physically demanding sport in the world.

X Games

Summer X Games are usually held in August, in the United States. Participants compete to win bronze, silver, and gold medals, and prize dollars. The competition often features new tricks such as Tony Hawk’s 900 in skateboarding, Anthony Napolitan with the first ever double front flip on a bicycle and Travis Pastrana’s double backflip in Freestyle Motocross. Concurrent with competition is the “X Fest” sports and music festival, which offers live music, athlete autograph sessions and interactive elements. The location of the Winter X Games is in Aspen, Colorado through 2012, while the location for the Summer X Games is in Los Angeles through 2010. The X Games also has international competitions and demos around the world that are held at varying times throughout the year. The games are shown live on ESPN and ABC television.
