Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda Races in the Rockies

AMA Motocross - Lakewood, CO

Despite what Lloyd Christmas thinks, John Denver was right about the Rocky Mountains. At the base of those majestic, rocky peaks sits a pristine motocross course called Thunder Valley, which hosted round two of the Lucas Oil National Motocross Series presented by Red Bull. Troy Lee Designs was there to scrap with the best riders in the world for points, cash and respect.

The team went into the weekend in missing-man formation though as Jessy Nelson pulled out of the series indefinitely to continue healing his injured elbow.

“It’s tough to go racing without him but the smart thing to do is get him 100% healthy,” says team manager Tyler Keefe. Jessy now joins Christian Craig on the sidelines, trying to get healthy as the series continues.

In the 450 class Malcolm Stewart was looking to pick up where he left off in Sacramento and he did just that. Mookie started around fifteenth and started moving forward quickly. He made a pass attempt for seventh in the closing laps and went off the track, settling for ninth in moto one.

The second moto started with Malcolm in 20th, leaving him with plenty of work to do. He made good progress and ended the moto in 11th for 11th overall on the day. While Malcolm and the team believe he will be well inside the top ten very soon, this weekend was a good stepping stone for the younger Stewart.

Cole Seely had a great opening moto in Denver. Cole ran in ninth all moto long before losing the spot to current champion, Blake Baggett, on the last lap. Seely backed that ride up with another good effort in moto two where he ran in 12th position at the tail end of a pack of very fast riders. With only a couple laps to go Cole made a few mistakes and dropped to 14th for 14th overall. Cole also has higher goals and he should realize them in the coming weeks.

Oklahoma Tornado Relief

The Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda riders wore special "Oklahoma" branded jerseys and helmets at this weekend's race in Colorado, to show the team's support for the victims of the recent Oklahoma tornado. These items will be up for auction to raise money for relief efforts, beginning on Monday, May 26 on the TLD Auctions eBay page
