TLD / Lucas Oil / Honda Explosive at Red Bud

AMA Motocross - Buchanan, MI

The Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda Team spent the Independence Day weekend just outside Buchanan, Michigan, at Red Bud Track and Trail. It is one of the most amazing tracks anywhere and the fact that the race takes place on July 4th weekend brings the fans out in droves. Those fans were treated to some great racing and got to see the TLD guys put their MavTV branded Hondas near the front of the pack.

Cole Seely’s speed is good. After qualifying fourth, it was obvious that he had the ability to run at the front. In the opening moto, he turned a tenth place start into a great moto by picking his way through the riders in front of him until he was in fifth. It was a good start to Cole’s day. The second moto didn’t begin quite as well as Seely had to start his charge from fifteenth position and move up from there. He made it to seventh before going down in a turn and losing some spots. He dropped back to twelfth and passed one rider back before the finish, giving him eleventh in the moto and eighth overall.

Malcolm Stewart started the day out with an M-80-style bang. A top ten start quickly turned into a solid fourth before the halfway flags even came out. As the race drew to a close Stewart made a couple errors and dropped to eighth. The second moto found Malcolm up in fifth right off the start and running with the lead pack. As the race wore on he would drop two positions to seventh and earn seventh overall on the day. It was a solid top ten finish for Stewart and the TLD camp.

Jessy Nelson and Christian Craig are both steadily improving from their injuries. Troy Lee Designs continues to encourage them in their journey back to the starting line and we are hopeful for a quick and successful return to racing.
