Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda at Muddy Creek

AMA Motocross - Blountville, TN

Cole Seely and Malcolm Stewart went to Muddy Creek Raceway in Tennessee looking to find the podium. While they didn’t quite reach their goals they are both still healthy and learning every week. What they learned in Bristol was that they need to stay off the ground and they need to get better starts.

Malcolm Stewart could only get off the line in 15th in his first moto. He quickly advanced inside the top ten and was looking to post a solid result until a small crash set him back. He remounted in 15th but unfortunately he crashed again and could only muster a 25th.

In the second moto, Malcolm got a decent start and he found himself up in seventh position at one point. Unfortunately, a crash set him back to 14th. He picked himself up and got to 12th at the checkers for 18th overall on the day.

Cole Seely started the day in around 12th position as he rounded turn one in the opening moto. Cole Charged relentlessly and found himself in 9th position at the end of the moto. It wasn’t the podium but it was a solid ride and a top-ten finish going into the second race.

Moto two saw Seely start just inside the top ten and begin to fight immediately with a group of riders. He held the position for nearly the entire moto before a couple little mistakes cost him time and positions. He would finish the moto 13th and leave Tennessee with a 13th overall on the day.

Both Christian Craig and Jessy Nelson remain sidelined with injuries, but hope to return to the series later in the year.

Better days lie ahead for the Troy Lee Designs/ Lucas Oil/ Honda team. The work ethic and determination that brought the team Supermoto championships, 250 supercross wins and X Games gold medals will bring them through this series with some good finishes. Will they come next weekend as the series heads to Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania? If you ask Cole and Malcolm I’m sure they think so.
