Highs and Lows for Troy Lee Designs at High Point Raceway

AMA Motocross - Mt. Morris, PA

The Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda team came into High Point with high hopes of finishing on the box. There were flashes of brilliance, but with the early rain and the changing track conditions, both riders struggled to keep their Hondas at the front of the pack.

In the 450 class Malcolm Stewart had a good start inside the top ten, and was able to make some great passes on lap one to move himself into fourth position. Just as his day was starting to look pretty solid, Malcolm slid out in a turn and fell back to 15th. He was able to work himself back up to 12th by the final lap.

In moto two, Malcolm grabbed another top ten start and was able to work his way up to sixth position before sliding out in another turn and losing several track positions. Malcolm again climbed back to 12th at the checkers, earning 13th overall on the day. Malcolm now sits 15th in the championship standings with 55 points.

In the 250 class, Cole Seely had a brilliant start just missing the holeshot, and aggressively dicing with several riders at the front of the pack. Cole rounded lap one in second position, where he would stay for several laps before washing out his front end and remounting in ninth position. Cole fought back to seventh, and then a big mistake would cause him to go down, knocking the wind out of himself. Cole eventually rode the bike back to the mechanic's area, but did not rejoin the race. He was credited with a 34th place finish.

In Moto two, Cole rounded the first lap in 21st position. He worked hard and climbed his way back up to 14th at the finish, but his first moto score earned him 18th overall on the day. Cole now sits 15th in the points with 59.

Christian Craig underwent wrist surgery again this past month, and it is reported to have gone very well. No updates on when the young rider will return to racing, but Christian is in good spirits.

Jessy Nelson will take one more week to rest from his elbow injury, and then start riding again. Still no word on when he might return to racing, but the team hopes to have Jessy back in action near the end of the outdoor series.

The team gets a much needed week off for Father's Day but the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship returns on Saturday, June 22 at Budds Creek in Maryland. If you are attending the race, be sure to stop by the TLD transporter and meet your favorite rider!
