RJ Anderson, short for Randy Anderson Jr. was born on February 17th, 1993 in Riverside, CA. Born to parents Randy and Carol Anderson, RJ was surrounded by a family already heavily involved in the off-road industry as well as off-road racing. It is in RJ’s pedigree to be successful at a young age. Randy Sr. became Walker Evans personal crew chief at the young age of 19 and has since gone on to becoming part owner of Walker Evans Racing. Randy Sr. has been a part of over 31 racing championships and has been a part of well over 200 race wins. Growing up surrounded by this much success and experience in racing has given RJ a solid foundation for which to build his own racing career.
RJ began racing go-karts for fun at age 11. At age 14 RJ moved into a Trophy Kart where he would begin his off-road racing career and get his first taste of organized off-road racing. He quickly progressed into a UTV at age 15 and has remained a UTV competitor in numerous race series to this day and that include Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series, M4SX, WORCS, and numerous Grand Prix events. In 2011 at age 18 RJ would claim his very first UTV Championship crown in the professional ranks at the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series. It was also in this same year and age that RJ would move into the Pro-Lite and Super-Lite divisions at Lucas Oil and in the TORC racing series. In his first full season behind the wheel of his V8 Pro-Lite RJ would claim TORC Rookie of the Year honors, not to mention finishing 2nd in points for the series and class championship. Back over at Lucas Oil RJ would go on to win the series finale Challenge Cup race in his Super-Lite bringing home a $10,000 check and the prestigious Lucas Oil Challenge Cup trophy. Praised for his consistency behind the wheel, many are calling 2011 RJ Anderson’s coming out and it is easy to see that there are a lot of people paying attention to the young talent.
Outside of racing RJ is your typical Southern California teenager. He enjoys riding moto with his buddies and working at the Walker Evans Racing facility tuning shocks and working on his own race vehicles. At over 6ft tall it’s hard to believe he is still just 18 years old, especially when he begins to talk about racing and the things taking place with his vehicles both on and off the track. He has a maturity about him that most his age do not have, he also has a competitive edge that you tend to find in most champions. His will to win and his urge to compete shines through in everything RJ does. Whether racing in a cup race or battling with buddies on a go-kart track, RJ’s competitive fire burns within. During the off season RJ enjoys spending time with his family and friends, staying in shape, and planning for the up coming season both on and off the track. RJ is taking his racing career seriously and has goals of becoming a champion in many classes of off-road racing.
