How did you get into Endurocross?
I got into Endurocross because of my dad he saw it in a magazine and was like hey I think you could do this…
How old were you when you started riding?
I was 3 when I started on a PW 50.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Lake Hughes, CA.
How did you first get introduced to TLD and/or Troy?
I have always loved the gear since I was a kid and had the opportunity to ride for them after meeting Jeff Weiner (TLD Athlete Manager) in Baja.
How long have you been riding for TLD?
Which TLD products are you using?
I wear Troy Lee from my helmet down to my Knee Braces. I also love the casual wear especially the socks.
Do any athletes/riders influence or inspire your style?
I grew up just trail riding and learned how to ride from that and never raced as a kid, so my style was a little messed up when I became a racer. I had a lot of help from Kurt Caselli with this and I’d say he was the biggest single factor in my style today.
What do you like to do when you're not riding?
When I’m not riding I like to just relax and hang out with my girlfriend and dog. Riding is always so intense and slowing down after that pretty much keeps me sane.
What bands/music are you into?
There is so much music I like but I seem to never get tired of Bob Dylan. I just started listening to The Expendables and Everlast more recently.
List 3 goals you have for the upcoming season:
1. My biggest goal is to win a race.
2. Earn a top three number.
3. Actually race as good as I ride.
List a few highlights of your career:
5th place at Erzberg Rodeo and top American ever.
2nd Indianapolis Endurocross 2010.
2nd King of the Hammers Extreme event.
What's your favorite race/event and why?
My favorite race is the Everett Washington Endurocross. I love the track because it is usually really difficult and also the fans there are the loudest and its always packed.
What's your idea of an epic day riding?
It would be a day out in Bean Canyon after a storm came through.
What's the best thing about being a professional athlete?
The best part about this is getting to see the world. Traveling isn’t easy but at least when I am old I can talk about all the places I’ve been.
If you were running things, what would you change about the industry?
The off road Industry is small and it is hard to make money, I would work to keep the not factory riders at the events. I don’t like to see good guys barely making it and when we don’t have a big group to race against it takes away from us all. Endurocross helps the top twenty finishers out with the Geico travel dollars just to help with gas to get there, this is a good start.
Who would you like to thank?
I would like to thank my family and friends and all the sponsors on board for 2013.
Any words of wisdom?
A positive mind is the most powerful thing you can have in any type of career and it makes everything possible.
