How did you get into mountain biking?
I've always been the kid who loved to play in dirt no matter what I was on. A buddy took me to Downieville 10 years ago and from that point I was addicted.
How old were you when you started riding?
Maybe around 3 years old.
Where did you grow up?
Grew up in the Bay Area, Northern California.
How did you first get introduced to TLD and/or Troy?
A local bike shop introduced me to a TLD sales representative.
How long have you been riding for TLD?
Since 2009 or so. Before that, I loved the product so much I was more than happy to pay for everything.
Which TLD products are you using?
GP Pants, GP Jerseys, Air Gloves, TLD 5450 Knee pads, Skyline Shorts and Jerseys. And an abundance of casual clothing!! I'm spoiled.
Do any athletes/riders influence or inspire your style?
Many... any of the greats like RC, Peaty and Villopoto. To dominate like them is always inspirational.
What do you like to do when you're not riding?
I'm a full moto super-fan. When the off season comes around, I break out the moto and have some fun with the boys.
What bands/music are you into?
Pretty open. Metallica, Rise Against, Chevelle, 80's rock, Metric..Just not country.
List 3 goals you have for the upcoming season:
List a few highlights of your career:
In my first year racing Enduros in 2012, I've pulled off a win at Colorado Freeride Festival, Oregon Enduro Hood River and a 2nd At Whistler Crankworx. I'm also a 3-time DH USA Worlds Team Member and got 1st at Pro GRT Port Angeles in 2009. I have a long list of podiums over the years from Crankworx, US Open, Pro GRT's, GP, Norba's etc.
What's your favorite race/event and why?
I'd have to say Crankworx. It's by far the biggest, baddest, craziest event out there. You see all walks of life there. Slopestylers, DHers, XC, Slalom, Enduro and all of the people from Vancouver it seems. And then you have the best bike park on the face of the planet in these beautiful mountains in which 9 straight days of events goes down.
What's your idea of an epic day riding?
Any day riding with my buddies in the montains and eating burritos after is perfect by me.
What's the best thing about being a professional athlete?
Traveling all over the world riding new places with friends. Oh, and getting to ride my bike everyday :) It's a true addiction for me.
If you weren't a professional athlete, how would you want to spend your time?
Man that's tough...working hard at something. No matter what you do, give it your all.
If you were running things, what would you change about the industry?
Same thing everyone says. Get it on TV. That could open the doors for so much more opportunities and growth of the sport.
Who would you like to thank?
The list is too long. Specialized, SRAM, Troy Lee Designs, Scotts Valley Cyclesport, friends and family, and my lady. Without them, I wouldn't be where I am today.
Any words of wisdom?
You'll never work another day in your life if you love what you do.
