How did you get into Mountain Biking?
Zach's dad is a DH racer and the sport grew on him like a virus. Hid first trail riding was here in the Snoqualmie area on local trails built by the Dirt Corps. With the growth of Duthie and other parks/trails, he grew to enjoy and was riding Whistler at the age of 6!
How old were you when you started riding?
He has been riding since he was 3. An early bloomer with the need for speed and adrenalin rushes!
Where did you grow up?
Here in Snoqualmie WA his whole life.
How did you first get introduced to TLD and/or Troy?
LD has been a sponsor to the Dirt Corps for a couple years now. They make a great selection of kids gear that really fits well.
How long have you been riding for TLD?
Which TLD products are you using?
The Zap helmet, shorts, jerseys and gloves along with some protective gear.
Do any athletes/riders influence or inspire your style?
Zach is a huge fan of the slopestyle riding. Folks like Cam McCaul and Brandon Semenuk really turn it up! There are also a ton of DH pros that inspire Zach both on a local level (Matt Patterson, Kyle Thomas and Charlie Sponsel) as well as the World Cup with Aaron Gwin and Neko Mulally.
What do you like to do when you're not riding?
Zach plays baseball, football, wrestling, music (clarinet), video games and just having fun being a kid with his buddies. Oh, and girls…
What bands/music are you into?
Too many to list… he’s a kid…
List 3 goals you have for the upcoming season:
1. Jump up to CAT2 2. Podium in the new CAT 3. Go to Whistler as many times a possible!
List a few highlights of your career:
1st place at the Beacon race All Gravity Series
3rd place in the series for the NW Cup 2012
Hitting A Line top to bottom with backside on every hit!
What's your favorite race/event and why?
Beacon. It’s fast and flowy with lots of jumps.
What's your idea of an epic day riding?
Whistler start, Whistler end. And then hang at the pool until dinner time.
What's the best thing about being a Mountain Bike athlete?
Zach just loves to jump. Air time is the best! He’s a natural at it with plenty of style and confidence.
If you weren't a Mountain Bike athlete, how would you want to spend your time?
Blank stare… no idea.
If you were running things, what would you change about the industry?
More variety for kids bikes and gear that line up with the adult offering.
Who would you like to thank?
My dad and Dirt Corps!
Any words of wisdom?
